How to make Halloween Ornaments – get creative by making ornaments using all of your favorite Halloween shapes or sayings.
Who says ornaments can only be used at Christmas time? I love my Halloween ornaments and I hope to inspire you to make some this Halloween season. What I love about these ornaments is you can put them ANYWHERE for an unexpected decoration! One year I hung them from the top of my antique hutch which was really cute. Another year I hung them from my dining room chandelier. But my favorite look was this spooky centerpiece that I made last year. Here is my post from last year’s decorating…I filled up my large clear vase with baby pumpkins. My kids and I went outside and cut down a few branches that we spray painted black and covered with black glitter. I wish you could see the detail of the glitter in the pictures – it adds a fun touch.
To make the ornaments all you need are colored ornaments, a cutting machine (I use my Silhouette Cameo), black and white vinyl, and Halloween ribbon.
I have seen colored ornaments at Michael’s or JoAnn’s before. If you don’t want to hunt around town I have provided links for the colored ornaments I used: black, orange, green.
The directions are pretty simple. Just cut out the vinyl shapes and words that you want to put on the ornament. Next, tie a bunch of different ribbon to the stem. I used different width’s, colors, and textures to add dimension and interest. I also added little rhinestones that have the sticky backs to give it some bling. Then to hang the ornament just add a long plain black ribbon.
They are super easy to make and I promise you they will become one of your favorite Halloween decorations year after year. The decorating options are endless.
