Happy Friday everyone! If you are looking for a delicious and EASY dessert for the weekend, look no further! So if you remember Father’s Day was last Sunday and to say I MESSED up the dinner portion on my hubby’s special day would be the truth. He always chooses this meal that involves the SLOOOOOOW cooking of steak and potatoes (maybe I will do a post about it because it’s that good). But if you don’t start it first thing in the morning, it’s NOT happening. Needless to say, our Sunday morning was busy trying to get ready for church and I forgot to start the meal. Long story short (with plenty of apologies) we had grilled cheese sandwiches. And not even fancy grilled cheese sandwiches, ha!
So we celebrated the right way on Monday night and I made him one of his favorite desserts….Brownie and Pound Cake Trifle. I could handle that because it is so incredibly easy!
Especially when you buy your pound cake from COSTCO!
Normally, I throw this together in my big glass trifle bowl but I thought it would be cute to make little individual ones in mason jars. The girls loved that part! They thought they were pretty fancy!
Pound Cake and Brownie Trifle Recipe:
– a prepared pan of brownies from the box (if you want to make homemade brownies, GO FOR IT….you are my hero!), cut into small squares.
– a loaf of pound cake, cut into small squares.
– a prepared bowl of instant chocolate pudding
– cool whip
Mix the same ratio of pudding and cool whip together and that’s what you will use as the filling.
Now comes the fun part! Layer the pound cake, then brownie pieces, then the cool whip pudding mixture and then repeat until your glass is full. Top it off with a dollop of cool whip on the top and refrigerate until you are ready to serve them.
They make the perfect summer treat! And they are pretty dang cute in those mason jars!
Yum! I want to try this! Sharing on my FB page on Thursday. #blogitforward
