I have been wanting to share Damon’s room on the blog for awhile now but it’s still not 100%. I still need to hang the drapes and wall accessories and find a cute rug. But I really wanted to share this birthday gift that I gave him LAST YEAR because it has been the best thing ever. It’s a PORTABLE LEGO TABLE!
It has solved 2 problems. One, when the kids were little we had a bunch of their toys upstairs AND downstairs so they could play wherever I was at. They never played upstairs if I was downstairs. Too much separation anxiety I guess 🙂 But now since my kids are older we moved all of their toys to their bedrooms. I love it because the house stays less messy downstairs in case someone drops by. However, I noticed Damon wasn’t playing with his toys as much since we spend so much time downstairs. So this portable Lego table has been so good for him. He is even strong enough to bring it downstairs with him by himself.
The second problem it has solved is that I am no longer stepping on those teeny tiny Lego pieces! How can something SO SMALL be SO PAINFUL? The lid just lifts right off and he can pick up all of his Lego pieces in seconds and store it all together.
How to Make a Portable Lego Table:
- Small ottoman with a lid. I like this one or this one.
- 15 in x 15 in Lego mat (or whatever size the top of the ottoman is)
- Command Strips
After purchasing these 3 items the only thing you have to do is attach the Lego mat to the top of the ottoman by using the Command Strips to secure it in place.
I went back and forth about making him a legit Lego table or something like this. I have to admit I love how portable this is. He has played with his Lego’s way more than he did in the past so that makes us both happy. Who knows when he’s a little bigger than maybe I will do a table for him but for now this is working out great!
